Gessmann and Innok Robotics Unite Indoor and Outdoor Automation
Discover how Gessmann and Innok Robotics are revolutionizing logistics with their seamless integration of indoor and outdoor autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
W. Gessmann GmbH and Innok Robotics GmbH have formed a groundbreaking partnership to showcase how autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) can be seamlessly integrated into both indoor and outdoor environments. Under the shared motto “Bridging the Gap Between Outdoor and Indoor,” both companies are combining their expertise to provide automated logistics solutions for a wide range of applications.
Thanks to LiDAR sensor technology, Gessmann’s GESSbot is a compact, adaptable AMR system that can move safely around people and blend in with its surroundings. The GESSbot is ideally suited to the demands of modern intralogistics thanks to its modular and adjustable configurations, which include pallet handlers, shelving units, hoisting systems, roller conveyors, cart transporters, and cobots for pick-and-place jobs.
The INDUROS from Innok Robotics is the perfect complement to the GESSbot. The rugged terrain robotics expert created an outdoor AMR with a sturdy build, hybrid navigation, 2D/3D sensor technology, and user-friendly task management. Capable of transporting up to 1.3 tonnes of cargo over difficult outdoor terrain, the INDUROS easily navigates ramps, varying weather conditions, and uneven terrain.
The two technologies work together to create a smooth end-to-end automation solution that links outdoor and indoor spaces. An integrated control system supports fully automated transportation across thresholds and between manufacturing rooms and outdoor storage areas. Various handoff methods, including using load carriers, trolleys, or the GESSbot and INDUROS exchanging parts on their own, are available. Constant monitoring and uniform fleet management are made possible by compatible software interfaces.
Completely automated end-to-end operations, from distribution outside to storage indoors, benefit customers. Efficiency is improved, manual transfers are reduced, and round-the-clock operation is made feasible by the deployment of AMRs in their specialized fields.
Steffen Kuhnle, Head of Robotics at Gessmann, states, “We are bridging the gap between automated indoor intralogistics and outdoor transport—together, we’re creating seamless end-to-end processes.”
On June 24 and 27, both companies will present their products at automatica 2025 in Munich. Gessmann booth 210 in Hall B4 will showcase the GESSbot, and Innok booth 411 will showcase the INDUROS.
This partnership is a significant step forward in the automation of logistics, offering a comprehensive solution that addresses the challenges of both indoor and outdoor environments. With the increasing demand for efficient and automated logistics, the collaboration between Gessmann and Innok Robotics is poised to set new standards in the industry.
